I have used this tent on my thru hikes of the PCT, The Wonderland Trail and The John Muir Trail and 1700 miles of the CDT.   I sold my initial tent in excellent shape except for a tear in the rain fly where a limb dropped on it, (repaired nicely).  My new Copper Spur UL1, slightly lighter than the original because of the new lighter poles and other small features, went with me on The Tahoe Rim Trail.  I have found it to be a welcome sanctuary at the end of the day.  I have weathered high winds, heavy rain, and snow in complete comfort.  This tent is sturdy and well constructed.  I use the footprint as well to keep the tent cleaner and as an added protection from surface runoff.  I carry my tent components in separate ultra-sil Dry Sacks, (Sea to Summit).  This allows me to pack wet components, i.e. the footprint or rainfly, keeping the rest of my gear dry.  When the sun comes out I can dry my gear.  The separate bags also allow me to place the tent components into my pack in the most convenient method.  One factor I enjoy over open tarp shelters is the peace from the evening insects. I also enjoy the double wall feature in keeping moisture away from me.

Pros:
  • Sturdy, well constructed
  • Designed to protect from the wind w/ the fly on
  • Side entrance
  • 3 mesh storage areas
  • Plenty of room for a single hiker, I'm 5'8'
  • 2 zipper pulls on the tent door
  • 2 zipper pulls on the rain fly
  • Tent poles are one complete shock corded set
  • Good ventilation to reduce/eliminate condensation
  • Freestanding, pitch on granite if you want or move it easily

Cons:  (these would actually be the same for any tent)
  • Tent stakes while light can be lighter with aftermarket purchases
  • Keep zippers lubricated and assist by holding the material when opening and closing
  • Shock cords will eventually fail, I replaced mine twice by myself
