I have tried each of the Air-Dried Steak offerings and settled on the Classic version. The product is moist with fats as well as being dense in protein. I found the flavor to be agreeable and something I could eat daily during my hike. I like to pair mayonnaise when eating this for an additional boost in fat. I broke the pouch into smaller amounts that I was able to consume in one session. Given the flavor and nutrition, my expectations are that I will be able to enjoy these foods for an entire thru hike.

Food quality is high on my list. When one eats the same things every day while putting their body through the rigors of a long hike, I think it is best to seek out the highest quality food to fuel yourself. What I enjoy about these foods is the salty flavors and organic. They are high in fat and protein with sugars in the zero range. The packages have enough to be filling while maintaining convenience for packing. I have narrowed down the choice to just one flavor and one seed. During my AT hike I realized I mostly enjoyed the Sunflower Seed Cheesy version, thus I will only be taking that flavor with me this hike.

I like each of these flavors, finding them satisfying without growing tired of the taste. I do appreciate the lack of additives, just simple ingredients and a high fat content. The packages are a bit large so I split each package into two seperate servings that are able to fit comfortably in my pockets. Given the flavor and nutrition, my expectations are that I will be able to enjoy these foods for a entire thru hike.

These bars are a pleasant treat that I look forward to on the trail. Each one is flavorful in it's own way. The Almond Apricot has the most sugar at 8g. During the TRT hike last summer these bars were a welcome addition to my food sack. I expect that I will be able to mix and match for a good variety making these bars last for a full thru hike.

I mix some nuts with the chocolate morsels and place them in baggies. I eat this for breakfast so the chocolate is not melted. The nuts pack great nutrition and fat in a really light package. High quality energy to start my day. I look forward to this every morning.

Still enjoy this mixed food for breakfast. I did try just the nuts alone at first and found that lacking. Once the chocolate was added it made all the difference for me.
