 This mornings views

We are on the trail before sunup to maximize our hiking day and make Dubois for resupply.
Most of our hike this morning is on two track dirt roads.  The forest is thick but affords a few pleasant views of surrounding mountains.  We hike at a brisk pace to get to town and to stay warm. I wear my down and gloves for the first couple of hours. Our spirits are high as we enjoy the morning walk.  David catches a glimpse of a deer. She runs parallel to us in the forest for a while until she realizes is better to run perpendicular.

Our two track changed to an improved road

The mountains as a backdrop are stunning

Coming to US highway 287/26  our way to Dubois

Once in Dubois we immediately start with the important things, breakfast.  Then laundry, shower and  resupply. I visit all the local outfitters and hardware stores for a holder for my bear spray. I finally find a holder in a hiker box at the local church. With the bear spray now attached to my shoulder strap I have a stable and easily accessed solution. Town has been brief and not a full day so I am working into the evening finalizing everything. We plan to leave for Yellowstone in the morning.
The forecast is positive for no rain. However the chill wind will be present.  So we are looking forward to a pleasant hike to Yellowstone.
