A little colder last night in the 40’s, no rain though. The day started with distance clouds in the sky and the sun breaking over the mountains. This made for a perfect open meadow walk

The sun just peeking over the mountains

Prefect walk

Boulder strewn meadows

So many small lakes in the section

Our spirits are high as we enjoy the fragrant scents and the beautiful scenery. The today trail will be  easy with little challenges compared the last two days.  The sky changes by the minute, sunglasses come off and on frequently.

Actually crossed this one on rocks

Little chirping birds sing their morning praises as the day begins. Other than their cheerful songs the world is very quiet and peaceful

The trail goes through sections of forest as well, I just didn’t get any pictures of the trees.  I think the meadows and vistas were so stunning the forests paled in comparison.  Around noon the sky changed and stared a gentle rain. We both geared up and decided to take a need break. The squal came in with s moderate intenisty making us glad we had geared up. It short order we  the sky cleared and we enjoyed the fragrant scents of the summer storm.

The sky darkens

There are plenty of little lakes

This looked so impressive with the dark sky

There have been many stream crossings today to of which required boots off.  These two stream were wide and mid calf at our chosen crossings

This mushroom is a fine specimen of the many seen. I do believe it it is a treasured treat among mushroom hunters

Hat Pass view, the tallest pass today

The afternoon sky cleared again

My home for tonight
While setting up camp we were assailed by some noisy birds sounding like blue jays. David IDed then as the Clark’s Nutcracker.  There was about three, David mentioned they always seem to work in teams and surround the threat. It’s true they were all around us giving us the business.
