Morning as I start on the trail
The. colder temperatures of around 32 degrees are thankfully removing most of the bugs from the mountains. Last night was a cool one at our 10,000 plus elevation.
A grouse surprised me
A young bull moose in the shadows
High alpine lakes and meadows are a delight
Columbine
Back into the forest
The Green River Canyou is spectacular with enormous granite towers
The Green River
Meadows appear as the elevation drops lower
A denser forest
Another grouse made herself know to me by running down the path. The sevens today is about 2000’ into the Green River Valkey. Since the trail is mostly downhill it is an easy day for us.
Looking south at the Green River with the mountains behind. The Green River has the typical look of glacial runoff
This is a splendid monument, it reminds me of devils tower
Looking north on the Green River
Look hard it’s another young bull moose
Looking south at square top
My bear bag hang for the night
My tent site for the night
Today’s hike was downhill after a small morning climb. The elevation drop was about 2100’ to the final camp site. Two moose and a couple of grouse today. This is the end of the Wind River Range, a spectacular and power experience.
