Morning on the trail

Today is a hike to town day. It’s time to resupply food, dry gear, do laundry and enjoy town food.
The is about 5.8 miles of the CDT to the junction of Pole Creek trail about 10.5 miles which leads to Elkhart Park.
We wake to rain which thankfully stops just enough for us to break camp easily and head out.
The trail is very quiet this morning. No little sweet sounding birds. I guess the rain made everybody sleep late.

The sky is telling the story more rain

Panorama of the Wind River Range this morning

Lots of open meadows up here

Boots on crossing, just too fast and too large of rocks to walk otherwise

The lakes on the Pole Creek trail are very pleasant and not heavily used

Same day and the sky has cleared that fast

Nice forest walk

Again the clouds roll in

The trail turns into the Highline Trail for a while.
As we draw closer to the trailhead hiker numbers increase substantially. We see a guided horse train and a lama pack train.  Over the 10.5 miles the drop in elevation is about 1000’.  The distance from the CDT and the Park streatches the elevation change out very nicely, making for a comfortable walk.
Pinedale is a nice Wyoming town. We have a place to stay that is very nicely situated for services.
Ahhhhhhhhh town food a shower and a bed.
