Sunrise on the Gila

It seemed I quickly walked the last bit of this section of the Gila arriving at a highway. Several miles of roadwalk and I am greaterd at Doc's by Dave and Dutch.

Doc Campbell's Post

They have their resupply spread out over a picnic table and are sorting things out. I promptly retrieve may box so I can organize my pack. The suns out allowing for drying of shoes and socks. Organized, dry I enjoy some different foods from the hiker box and store..

Left Grim, Old School, Spoonman

Guy on a Buffalo

I had planned a lay over at Doc's at the hot springs next door. In a while I setup camp there.  Other hikers poor in, Spoonman, Grim, Guy on a Buffalo, Hot Tub, Consolation, Ridgerunner and K2. Everyone enjoys some hiker fellowship made even better with homemade ice cream from Doc's.

Natural spring water

HOT water from the dragon

The hot springs is a little private campground with maybe 15 campsites and 3 nicely designed pools with natural spring water. The water is hot and the pool temps are constantly monitored and adjusted by Allen the proprietor.  Soaking the afternoon away with the rambling Gila just steps away for atmosphere and a quick cool down is just a great way to relieve hike pains. In a while more hikers move down from Doc's and we enjoy s great rest of the day soaking and visiting with all the campers in the park.
Back in the rack, what a splendid and happy day!
